Bad Breath / Halitosis, is when there is a noticeably unpleasant odour present on exhaled breath. Very rarely, halitosis can be a symptom of an underlying serious condition such as liver failure, however, in most cases halitosis can be reduced by improving the oral hygiene. This would include brushing and flossing teeth as well as gently brushing the tongue. In some cases, the cause of the bad breath may not be due to the mouth or oral tissues and in this case it can be more difficult to diagnose the cause and manage.
