Dental fillings can usually be done in a single visit and the most commonly used material in our clinic for fillings is known as composite resin. These bonded tooth colored fillings are used for teeth with small fractures and decay. They can also be used to mask stains and discolorations in some instances.
Composite fillings are tooth colored / white fillings. They are suitable for small to medium sized fillings on either front or back teeth and can withstand moderate pressure from chewing stresses. They have good durability and resistance to fracture when used in appropriate fillings and often require less drilling and tooth preparation than metal fillings.
Composite resin fillings can help insulate the tooth from major temperature changes and they look natural in the mouth. They can be all but invisible when the color is matched perfectly by your dentist. There is a chance that some food and drinks may stain composite fillings and if used in larger cavities they may wear away and need replacing.
